If you use less than 8,000 kWh of electricity across 12 months then you qualify as a ‘low user’. Likewise, if you use more than 8,000 kWh then you are classed as a ‘standard user’.
A standard user tends to include bigger households with 3+ people or households with additional heating for a spa or pool, for example. It can also apply to families or individuals who use a lot of electricity for heating (eg. heat pumps and electric heaters rather than wood burners) and bills averaging more than $150 per month.
Low users tend to be smaller households of 1-2 people who use less electricity for heating and hot water and often those with fireplaces or gas for heating or hot water. Average monthly bills of less than $150 usually indicate a low user household.
If you’re unsure don't worry, we've found some data about your household and have placed you onto the most appropriate pricing plan for now. We’ll keep an eye on it though and review it regularly to make sure you’re always getting the best value for money.
These rates include all variable costs excluding GST for the meter configuration at this property. Part of these costs include a ‘spot price’ component of 7.4 cents which is the average billed spot price of our customers up until June 2018. Rates are subject to change.
Simplicity, transparency and savings. Like all power retailers, we buy electricity off the national grid at the ‘wholesale rate’. Unlike others, we don’t sell it on to our customers at a higher set rate throughout the year. We only charge you what it actually costs us to get the power to you, plus a small cents per kilowatt charge and fixed daily service fee. That's it, no other mark-ups or extras - freeing you up to make big savings over the year.
Your Installation Control Point (ICP) number is specific to your property and provides a way to identify your home on the NZ Electricity Network. If you’re unsure what your ICP number is, you can call us on 0800 Go Direct and we can check this for you or you can dig out an old power bill and find the ICP number on there. It’s a 15 digit combination of letters and numbers e.g. 0000038584NT84E.
